Bardsey Primary School P.T.A.

Here at Bardsey Primary, we have an enthusiastic Parent Teacher Association, whose aims are to support the school and provide those little ‘extras’.

Membership of the association is free (with the exception of your time!) and we are always pleased to welcome parents and friends to any of our meetings. The P.T.A holds an AGM in September each year and organises a year long programme of events and we hold regular P.T.A meetings throughout the school year to discuss these.

Our events include Halloween and Valentine discos for the children, sponsored walk, school Christmas fair, raffles, reindeer food!, BBQ, May Ball (for the adults), funmat projects, balloon race, Easter activities, Pantomime, as well as supporting school plays by providing a bar. We have on-going events such as ½ termly quizzes to take home, the lottery club, recycling of used cartridges/mobile phones to name a few.

Over the past few years, purchases have included a number of musical instruments, classroom audio equipment, books, imaginative play equipment and the playground has been painted. We also set up the ICT suite, provided accessories, purchased a gazebo, water coolers, staging, sound system, stage microphones, have given £150-£250 to each class, redecorated both libraries….. the list is endless!

We hope that while your child is a pupil at Bardsey Primary School you will come along to our P.T.A events. If you are able to support the work of the association in any way or even become an active member, we would be very pleased to hear from you. Please contact the Chair c/o Bardsey Primary School

To co-ordinate the activities of the P.T.A a committee is elected at each AGM. The P.T.A is a charity and the committee act as the charity’s trustees.

Chairperson (Barbara Barstow): Chairs the meetings, arranges agenda with Secretary, liases with Mrs. Nathan and the school, delegates tasks, communicates with parents by letter advising of any events or activities and generally keeps things moving.

Treasurer (Kate Acland) Lottery Treasurer (Liz Gould): Keeps tabs on the money, is responsible for withdrawals and deposits at the building society, keeps updated accounts book, prepares cash for events and banks any takings, generally acts as a controlling influence over those who would over spend.

Secretary (Catherine Mawson): Takes minutes from meetings, prepares and distributes to members. If necessary, types chairs letters.

Publicity (Helen Chomyszyn): Communicates with outside organisations and local businesses, advertising our events. Organises posters round school to make pupils/parents aware of forthcoming events.

Ordinary members: These people are the lifeblood of our P.T.A They attend meetings, volunteer (or are volunteered by the Chair) to assist with tasks and support events. Importantly, they give the committee feedback from other parents to ensure everyone has an opportunity to raise an opinion, suggestion or comment.

If you would like to know more about the P.T.A then please ask any of the current committee members who will be glad to advise.
