Welcome to Bardsey Primary School
Bardsey Primary School is a welcoming, happy, thriving one form entry primary school in the village of Bardsey, West Yorkshire. The school is set in the heart of its community and sits on a picturesque hilltop overlooking the rolling countryside of Yorkshire, enjoying a very rural location.
The school has extensive grounds which are utilised for outdoor learning.
A close partnership between all involved with the school ensures that we can provide a happy and safe environment where all children can achieve their full potential. We strive for academic excellence. Our goal is for each pupil to thrive during their years with us and develop into confident, creative, independent learners who are ready for secondary education.
The school has an enthusiastic, committed, experienced staff who work hard to create an exciting learning environment for the children. The school is a community. Our parents are engaged in their children’s learning and actively support the school. The Friends of Bardsey Primary School (FOBPS) work tirelessly to raise funds to enrich the children’s learning. The school is fortunate to have an active governing body who work hard to ensure that the schools aims and objectives are met.
We look forward to welcoming you and your family to our school.

Update - Bardsey Primary School Playgrounds
Last Autumn Term, it was decided to apply for a grant to the Lady Elizabeth Hastings Trust in order to finance an upgrade to our school playgrounds. This upgrade was very much needed due to the poor state of the surfaces on these playgrounds. From time to time, children do fall over when playing on the playground at playtime but as the playground surfaces were in a poor state, this exacerbated the effects of falling on the playground.
As a school, we were determined to improve this situation in order to increase the safety of our children whilst on the playground. Discussion was held between the Acting Headteacher, the PE subject leader and the school’s Business Manager to put forward an application to the Lady Elizabeth Hastings Trust to get a grant to help towards financing this project. As a school we were unable to pay for this upgrade ourselves due to the limitations of our school budget.
A detailed application was put together and we were extremely grateful to the Lady Elizabeth Hastings Trust for supporting this project by giving the school £14,000. Over the Easter holidays, this work was undertaken, and all of the playgrounds were resurfaced and they look fabulous. It is a great transformation. A few weeks later, new playground markings were put on the surfaces and these were ‘the icing on the cake’ to finish off the playgrounds.
What we now have is a real improvement and the children have really enjoyed playing on these new surfaces and have got a great deal of enjoyment out of the new markings.
A big thank you to the Lady Elizabeth Hastings Trust for giving us the money to do this!
What our Pupils say :

George, Y3 “The tarmac is great because we don’t hurt ourselves if we fall.”
Isla, Y3 “When you fall over it’s nice and smooth.”
